Jiang is an exceptional violinist, and she gets a wonderful, rich, and complicated sound out of her instrument, the 1727 "ex-Ries" Stradivarius. The Brahms is exquisite, and Jiang has a wonderful rapport with Cosand, who is also a member of the music faculty at Arizona State.

I am very happy with the interpretations. The duo brings out the quirkiness of the Debussy beautifully. Their Franck is a little more lyrical than rapt, but it is very impressive. The Ravel Sonata that ends this recital is very fine too. I has a statuesque, neoclassical beauty, II has just enough bluesy grotesquerie to be satisfying (this is the hardest movement to get right), and III is the bumpy, whirling train ride it should be. The recorded sound is good if not perfect, but the two instruments are perfectly balanced, with the piano never held in check and the violin never swamped no matter how loud the piano gets. I would love to hear more from this duo.

Both Danwen Jiang and Walter Cosand are incredible, gifted performers with international reputations. They play with finesse and sensibility to the form of these master works that rates with any performance of these works I have heard. The natural ensemble playing between Jiang and Cosand exudes a true symbiosis with a unified approach to phrasing and musical styles. This is really one of the nicest and most rewarding violin sonata discs I have heard in awhile; these are performers who need to be heard and known with the highest regard.

Audiophile Audition

Absolutely exquisite. Jiang tosses off bits of bravura as though they were as natural as breathing. In the final movement her playing has a limpid quality punctuated by fast trills and runs that are as smooth as glass.

With beautiful tone and exquisite phrasing, Jiang swept the audience along from the lush opening phrases to the perpetual motion finale. It was one of the most memorable concerto performances I have heard in years.

Impeccable playing. Jiang’s technical ability merits praise and even awe.

Classical Society Journal, NJ

Her playing has it all: technical facility, beauty of sound, and the ability to project at whatever level is required. She also has temperament and vision of the whole that makes musical sense out of large structures. That is what makes her performances so convincing - so "right".

The Manchester Journal, VT

Ms. Jiang is not only a superbly skilled violinist, she makes the music her own, and in a very personal way lifts whatever she does far above the level of just one more competent - even very beautiful - performance.

Jiang returned to China and gave outstanding performances and master classes.

The Gramophone, China (Translated)

It is rare to hear such thorough and beneficial master classes. In Danwen Jiang's performance of the Beethoven A Major Sonata, Enescu A minor Sonata and Strauss E-Flat Major Sonata, she fully captured the style of each work. In the audience were China's most renowned violin professors, including Yaoji Lin, Peiyan Liu, Wei Zhao; they all expressed the highest praise for her playing, particularly commenting on her masterful control over the bow and its various articulations, especially her skill in balancing the varied speeds and pressures demanded by the music, and the variety of colors and contrasts she created, all of which fully brought forth the nuances of each piece.

Music Weekly, Beijing, China (Translated)

A flawlessly beautiful performance combining declarative strength with an admirable poise and delicacy of tone.

The Kingston Whig-Standard, Canada

With your eyes closed, you could imagine yourself listening to the concert at Carnegie Hall in New York, or at the Royal Albert Hall in London . . . . The enormous energy and virtuosity in the finale of the Beethoven Sonata, the fantastic landscapes in the Ravel, and the sweetness and dreamy moods of the slow movement in the Strauss were unforgettable. The enthusiastic audience did not let the artists go without hearing two Mozart encores - the culmination of this most memorable evening.
